My cousins, Ricky and Alicia, welcomed their beautiful baby girl Anna Rose. She was born November 22, 2010. She weighs 6 lbs. and 2 oz. I can't wait to see her during Thanksgiving!!!
Today is my stepmom, Donna's, birthday. We got her this necklace from KymV Designs. Happy birthday Donna!!!

Since today is Veteran's Day I wanted to give a little love to my veteran. I am so proud of you every single day. I am especially proud today when I think of what you sacrificed to protect our country. You are amazing and I love you so much! Know that I am always proud of you and that I am honored to be your wife. Happy Veteran's Day.

This past week I made a purchase from one of my favorite blogs. It's definitely in my top 5 go to blogs! If you haven't seen House of Smith's then you need to go look at it. Shelley is so talented and always has great ideas!!! She also makes vinyl decals. Her shop is called Wonderfully Wordy and I fell in love with this subway art decal for my Kitchen Aid Mixer. It adds a bit of interest in my kitchen! I love love love it!
This past weekend Manny I went to the Texas A&M vs. Texas Tech game. We had planned to get up Saturday and be over in College Station by noon to meet his mom and brother and his girlfriend for lunch before the game. So I got up early and did a few things before we left. Around 9:30 we hit the road. We were chatting and playing a few road games. It was a really nice drive over to College Station. I knew Manny was really excited to go to this game. He hadn't been to an Aggie game since we went 2 years ago. And as we all know them Aggies are serious super fans about their football, for some reason! ;) I like to give Manny crap about the Aggies. Seeing as my everyone in my family is a longhorn fan. So we are driving in to College Station and we see Kyle Field. At that moment I gasped. Not in awe of Kyle Field. I could care less, but because I FORGOT the tickets. How do you get up in the morning and get ready to go to a football game and forget the tickets. I told Manny what I did and he got a big smile on his face and said "Haha, you're kidding!" Only my wide eyes didn't lie. I was definitely not kidding. I had indeed forgot the tickets. I felt horrible. I knew how much he wanted to go to the game. I offered to drive back to Austin to get them, but Manny told me that I wouldn't make it back in time. I felt so bad I started to cry. I just felt like I had disappointed him because he was REALLY looking forward to going to this game. So we met his family for lunch and I was terrified to see his mother. What you should know is that she bought the tickets for us and those babies weren't exactly cheap. (By the way, I'd like to take this time to ask why on earth football tickets are so expensive? It's insane to me.) We got to the restaurant and told his mom what had happened and she thankfully was more disappointed about us not being able to go. I was so glad that she wasn't upset. I offered to pay her back, but she told me absolutely not. We decided that since we were there and we ourselves weren't out any money that maybe we should try to go see if we could get any tickets. So we parked like 500 miles away from the stadium and began our hike over there. We decided that we wouldn't spend more than what we had gotten the original tickets for. As luck would have it, we found some. So my guilt instantly went away. All I cared about was making my husband happy and I am so glad we found some tickets. We entered the stadium and Manny got the great idea to go sit in our original seats. They were in the alumni section (in the shade). Our new tickets were definitely not as good as the originals. I had our email confirmation on my phone of our original seats ready to make my case to the section guard. No need, we walked on up and sat down. It was so nice. There was a nice breeze and in that shade, I was a happy girl. Not to mention, my Aggie next me was so happy to be in Kyle Field. We sat in front of some really nice people who had a baby girl that was IN LOVE with Manny. She kept throwing her toys so Manny would look at her. That didn't help his baby fever either! Hahaha! I guess all's well that ends well. The Aggies actually won so I'm so glad that Manny got to see that game. Next time we buy tickets to anything I will put them immediately in my wallet! When we got Manny's desk I took one of the dining room chairs that didn't fit under the table too well because it had arms. So that made me one chair short. We went to the City Wide Garage Sale this past weekend and I found this chair for $12!!!! All it needed was some paint and it was done. I painted it today. Here's what it looks like.

I also made gyros tonight. The best part was the tzatziki sauce! I made it from scratch. It was so good! I will definitely make it again. Here's the marinade I made for the chicken gyros.
This past summer we came to Austin a lot for Manny's job interviews. We would stay with our friends Will and Candice. One day Candice introduced me to the egg-perfect egg timer. I oohed and awed over it! I am all about convenient kitchen gadgets! But there's a funny and slightly embarrassing story that goes along with my need to have this gadget. I'm able to tell it because I can laugh at myself. I'm that blond in the family that says stupid things and never lives it down! It's okay! I can laugh along with them. So here it goes! When I was in high school I would lifeguard during the summers. Well one day before I went to work, my mom told me that she had hard boiled some eggs the day before and if I wanted to make some tuna fish salad with them then I could. Keep in mind that I never cooked in high school. NEVER! If I did it was a disaster. So I gave her a blank look and asked her if I needed to cook them again. Well she looked at me like I had ten heads! She asked why on earth did I think that I needed to recook eggs that had already been hard boiled. I replied with "I thought maybe they go back to their normal state." I was totally serious! That's the sad part. My mom replied with "What food do you know goes back to it's raw state after you've cooked it?" I obviously had no answer! She informed me that no, I didn't have to recook them and they were already cooked. I have never lived that story down and I have been graduated from high school for over 8 years now! I have many more blond moments like this. Needless to say, I have come a long way in the kitchen department. I actually have kitchen stuff on my Christmas list this year! Ha! I never thought that day would come! Even my mother has admitted that I've come a long way in the cooking department. I'm not trying to be a culinary genius in the kitchen like my brother but, I do wish to be able to cook tasty meals for my family. Now you see why I needed this egg timer. When we moved into our apartment in Austin, Candice gave us a housewarming basket and low and behold, she put in an egg-perfect egg timer! I guess she heard me admiring it all summer!
This is after it boiled. As the eggs cook, the red fades and lets you know when your boiled eggs are soft, medium, or hard! Love it! Everyone needs one!
